Round and Round We Go

Flying a modern fighter jet can be pretty strenuous, particularly when it makes a sudden change in direction. To help pilots cope with the massive forces acting on their bodies, they are given tight-fitting G-suits that put pressure on their lower bodies. This keeps blood from pooling down there as it drains away from the brain. Besides that, they’re also taught a breathing routine and to squeeze their legs and butts to combat the effects of high G forces.
Even with all of that, G forces can have a pretty profound effect on the body. As its effects worsen, it can cause:
-loss of color vision
-tunnel vision
-loss of all vision
-unconsciousness with strange dreams
In the video below, some US Air Force pilot trainees get to spend some time in a centrifuge at Randolph Air Force Base. Some are a bit more successful than others.
