Flour Fighting looks Fun!

There is an annual Carnival in the village of Laza, Spain, known as “entroido” (meaning entrance or beginning).  At this event the host ritualistic ceremonies, throwing ash, and flour at one another.

During the Carnival, which lasts about a week, masquereded men will run through the streets  with bells around their waists, letting the townspeople know it is time to play…but I don’t know if this sounds like fun to me!  The flour fights look fun…

but…there are also reports of men collecting ant-filled dirt into sacks, pouring vinegar inside to “wake them up” and then run into the plaza throwing these ants in peoples faces and “right down their backs into their clothes”.

Uh, no thanks…I would sleep in if I lived in Laza!  See more of the flour fighting chaos HERE.

There is a similar event held in Greece…
