Eating Live Octopus

I love sushi, but this dish is just a little to “fresh” for my taste…more like ALIVE!  This is called Sannakji, a Korean delicacy: a freshly killed octopus seasoned with sesame oil and served for your enjoyment.  It is sliced up, but the tentacles still move and the suction cups stick to the inside of your mouth on the way down. MMm good.  Oh, luckily I found a video so you could see what I am talking about.

Have you ever had Sannakji?  Would you ever try it?

Looks good. I’ll have to give it a try sometime.

are you serious?! how could that look good?!! it’s moving!and fyi that is a defense mechanisim in the wild. When a leg is taken off the octopus escapes and the tentacles wriggle to distract and confuse the predator.the tentacles usually grow back though so don’t feel bad for the wild octopi

The Octopus is a glorious creature that is smart, yet very curious, and should NOT be eaten by people – but admired!!!
