Crab Invasion!

On Christmas Island, a remote island northwest of Australia, 150 Million crabs migrate to the beach to lay their eggs. This happens every year, and the locals have learned to live among the crabs, on the streets, on the golf courses, EVERYWHERE! So then…EACH female gives birth to 100,000 baby crabs! My head is starting to itch! The streets are completely covered in red!! It is insane!!! You must watch this video!

Save the Blobfish

Scientists fear the blobfish, an inedible fish whose habitat is south eastern Australia, is in danger of being wiped out by over-fishing. Since the blobfish lives at the same depth as crabs and lobsters, the fish are getting scooped up in nets along with their tastier counterparts. At the depth that these fish are found there is too much pressure for gas bladders to keep them afloat so its appearance is due to its gelatinous flesh that has less density the water. Is it just me or does this thing look like it needs a hug? Source

Real Life Aliens?

Have you ever heard about the Cymothoa exigua? Well if not, you must! It is a parasitic crustacean of the family Cymothoidae.

Ok so this parasite attaches itself at the base of the tongue of the Spotted rose snapper, and feeds off of it. As the parasite grows, less and less blood is able to reach the tongue, and eventually the tongue just withers up and dies. The parasite then replaces the fish’s tongue with its own body, by attaching to the muscles of the tongue stub! [shutter]

Ranchers in Texas are on the hunt for a pack of wild creatures…could they be the Chupacabra? 2 unidentified animals were captured and killed in Hood County, Texas. ”This had deer ears, big teeth and pinkish skin like nothing I’ve ever seen before” said Jack Farr, who found one of these animals in his barn. The remains were sent to Texas A&M for research. [Video]

Looks like a hairless dog…doesn’t it? The truth remains to be seen.
