Believe It or Not!
It’s almost the future
Ghent University has developed a new contact lens that is actually a curved LCD display!

LCD contact lens developed by
the Centre for Microsystems Technology,
Ghent University, Belgium.
The lenses will be able to display anything that you normally see on LCD screens, like smartphone messages, directions, movies, etc.
Although the makers are more practical about the lens’s actual application.
“This will never replace the cinema screen for films. But for specific applications it may be interesting to show images such as road directions or projecting text messages from our smart phones straight to our eye.” -Jelle De Smet
Watch the video posted at the top of the blog. It demonstrates how the new lenses work. I’m not quite sure why they chose only a dollar sign to keep flashing on the lens. Perhaps they are hoping the lens will bring them a lot of money!
All this talk of beaming messages and images directly into our eyeballs has me feeling a little sci-fi. What’s your favorite techy sci-fi flick?

Just how near-sighted do you have to be?
