1,100 Miles later…Look what followed me home!

It makes you wonder how bad could it have been for this poor pup (and others out there for that matter) to want to run over 1,100 miles to keep up with his new found friends that graciously fed him a chicken drumstick when he was found sleeping on the side of the road. The Chinese cyclists that fed her were astonished at the determination that this little pup showed in order to keep up with their cycling group. Amazingly, the tiny mutt never gave up. She followed them — on paw — for more than 1,100 miles over 20 days.

A student, Mr Heng, in Wuhan, Hubei province, had decided to cycle to Llasa, Tibet from Kangding in the Sichuan province as a graduation trip with friends when he met the lonely dog.

“She was lying, tired, on the street around Yajiang, Sichuan province,” he told China Daily. “So we fed her, and then she followed our team.”

The doggy, later named “Xiao Sa” (‘Little Sa’) covered 1,138 miles and climbed 10 mountains higher than 13,000 feet! Some of the cyclists eventually stopped and decided to take the bus to their destination. But no Xiao Sa, she made it all the way. Heng was so moved by her incredible journey that he decided to offer her a permanent home.

“I would like to take the dog home and take care of her. She has been a stray on the road for a long time. She needs a home.”

Mr. Heng good man, Little Sa great dog.

  4. That’s a great feat for four young feet. I remember in the USA years ago, bikes would have a basket up front for a small tyke to ride in. But in the States the new found friend would have met it’s fate via car early on. Maybe cars slow down for brave bikers over there, and a brave pup!

  5. oh, the pup was so cute.
