“Beware of the B-easter Bunny”: World’s Biggest Bunny!

Happy Easter!

To celebrate this wonderful day of chocolate bunnies, we are re-posting our favorite bunny story!

Weighing in at an astonishing 49lbs and stretching to a length of 4ft 3in from nose to puffy tail, Darius is the world’s most humongous bunny! He is only just over 2 years old and his owner Annette Edwards plans to bulk up the bunny another 7lbs!

“The frightening thing is that Darius is still growing so he could be absolutely massive by the time he reaches full size…He could grow another four to six inches,” Edwards said. “It’s quite scary.”

Darius takes in an average of 12 carrots a day
among other munchies (hay, cabbage, apples and rabbit mix) – which I’m sure makes the local grocer very happy. Ms Edwards, from Worcester, England has bred big bunnies before but Darius is the largest in the history of rabbit-kind.

A life-long rabbit fan, Edwards’ pets just seem to bounce into the record book. Another of her rabbits, Alice, had held the record before Darius. Before Alice, there was Amy and before Amy, there was Roberto.

Darius is insured for $1.6 million, has an agent and travels with a bodyguard who reportedly makes about $100,000 a year just to wrangle a rabbit. (man, I’m really in the wrong line of work..)

“Darius is now on tour all over the world. He’s bringing out a book for children. You know, I’m quite jealous,” Edwards said with mock annoyance. “He’s actually taken over me. I’m a professional model, and he’s having more fame than me. It’s not fair.”

  1. thats soo big i wish my rabbit was that big thats just cool

  2. How cruel to mess with nature. People are never happy until they have the biggest, the best, the smallest the tallest, the fattest or the show champion – regardless of the welfare of the animal, and why? All through greed and wanting to make lots of money. What a sick society we are.

    • And may I say that is nothing else but true

    • Did someone take advantage of your pet rabbit when you were a child?

    • I agree… why not adopt a bunny instead of breeding one! Both of my sweet little bunnies are rescues that would have died if i wasn’t there to bring them home.

    • Perhaps you should read more about Darius before you make a judgement call on how he is kept. There are several articles on him. His growth just happened, his owner was asked how he got so big and she said it just happened.

Not only that she takes good care of him. And for a rabbit that size, yes you would need someone such as trained body guard to catch him. He is on tours and other things where he might get scared, so yeah lets see you do that and catch the rabbit after that. Besides his owner loves him regardless how big he is.

You’re also right this society is sick because clearly people cant take something for what it is and the fact that something good happened to another person. So they have to mock them, say they are wrong, say that the need to adopt rather than be doing something they have been doing for years. Maybe you need to take another look at society and start doing full research before you jump to conclusions you feel are true because your jealous.

    • Don’t worry. Its probably a flemish giant. Look it up. Its a rabbit that grows to be that size naturally.

Darius indeed a lucky bunny, but hope he is not obese unlike most of dogs and cats in the US.

  4. fist of all a bunny should not have a bodyguard to keep it in line… if it was truly loved it would respect its owner enough to be a nice bunny. And why is it ‘frightning’ that he is still growing?? I would love to have a big bunny like that to cuddle with! I mean its just like the size of a dog but it needs a huge litterbox! Gaint Bunnies seem to be the most intelegient of all species and the most sweetest.

  5. so big and fatfatfatfat girl boy can you sell 4 300 pleas answer i want one were did you get it from the wild.

  6. I have a little 6 lb.red wabbit.I call him Bunno.
