This picture is crazy! In 1961, a twelve man Soviet crew was building a new base in the Antarctic. For months on end, the team had one doctor on hand during the time they were trapped by sub-zero temperatures. Unfortunately, an ill timed case of appendicitis forced the doctor to improvise a bit. Ouch.
