Good looks don’t matter to these burrowing mammals. They’re nasty to look at, and nasty by nature: males kidnap youngsters from other colonies and keep them as slaves, forcing them to dig new tunnels.

I don’t know about you, but Naked mole rats are probably one of my favorite animals. Creepy little walking sausages that live together like a colony of ants, feel no pain in their skin and have teeth growing on the outside of their lips. What’s not to love?
