Believe It or Not!
Super sonic skydive
Yesterday Felix Baumgartner successfully completed what could be described as the world’s most unbelievable stunt ever. At the very least, it is one stunt record that won’t be broken for a long time.
Baumgartner, AKA “Fearless Felix” became the world’s first SUPER SONIC SKYDIVER!
- 24 mile free fall
- 2nd longest free fall ever at 4 minutes and 20 second
- Broke the sound barrier
- Reached 833.9 mph or Mach 1.24 at peak velocity
- 1st person to go faster than the speed of sound without the assistant of an aircraft
- Over 8 million people watched the live stream on You Tube
What’s even crazier than the stunt itself has got to be the media exposure garnered from the event. Over 130 digital outlets carried a live feed of the event, recorded with over 30 cameras.
Check out a video of the live free fall at the top of this post.
After Fearless Felix landed safely, the event sponsor, Red Bull, posted a pic that generated 216,000 likes, 10,000 comments and more than 29,000 shares in less than 40 minutes. Over half of the Twitter topics trending had to do with the jump.
