Believe It or Not!

Dreams of Gold
Richard Sweeny is a three-dimensionalsculpturist who creates breathtaking life-sized figures.

Sweeny’s latest collection, Dreams of Gold, depicts horses and chariots and is being displayed inside the Lincoln Cathedral in the UK for an Olympic-inspired flower festival.
From afar the horses look like they are carved from marble or ivory, but the medium used to create these majestic creatures may surprise you.

Parchment Stallions
The giant horses are made of paper! Sweeny first constructs a flexible wooden skeleton, then covers it with a paper skin.
His website describes his approach to art as “an experimental, hand-on approach, utilizing the unique properties of often mundane materials to discover unique sculptural forms.”
His other works include a series of cardboard people, paper dogs, intricate origami, and even furniture.
