Castillo de San Marcos

Visit the nation’s oldest National Historic Monument, the Castillo De San Marcos. After 9 wooden structures were destroyed by enemies and by Mother Nature, the Spanish began work on this coquina stone fortress in 1672. It was completed in 1695.

Check the daily schedule to see re-enactors fire off muskets and cannons as if the battle of 1740 against the British were happening today. National Park Service passes are honored & children 16 and under are free. For more information contact the National Park Service at 904-829-3099.
