ripleys-star-wars-scrap-metal-sculptures-1Star Wars Countdown Continues!

“On the sixth day of Star Wars, Ripley’s shared with me: Six Metal Sculptures” (did you sing it? It still works!)

These are the droids you’re looking for – and they’re made of scrap metal and car parts!  R2-D2, C3PO, and the battle droid, along with a Storm Trooper, Darth Vader, and Yoda came to Ripley’s collection via Thailand.

To capture their rendition just right, the artists used all kinds of various car parts, including bumpers, screws, wiring and other pieces that I personally can’t identify (I appreciate a beautiful car, but I’m generally clueless about what’s under the hood, #tbh).

R2 and Yoda are my personal favorites – but you can get up close and personal with all of these guys at our Hollywood Odditorium!

Believe It or Not!, Yoda’s first name is “Minch” and in the original screenplay, Yoda was actually named “Buffy”!  I’m so relieved – I don’t think I could take “Buffy the Jedi Master” seriously.  “Much to learn, you still have.”
