The Canadian rock band Nickelback has recently found itself in a battle of wills against an unusual opponent.

Created on a whim, the Facebook page “Can this pickle get more fans than Nickleback*?” has managed to achieve its goal.  By numbers of Facebook fans, the humble pickle has pulled ahead by tens of thousands.  *As for the name, she had to misspell it to get around Facebook’s copyright policies.

Chad Kroeger, the lead singer of Nickelback, didn’t take too kindly to the upstart pickle.  So, he decided to post a message to the lady that started the pickle fanpage,  making some threats about shutting the site down and telling everybody how awesome he is by letting people know how many albums he’s sold.  More accurately, he got a chance to tell everybody what a humorless tool he is.
