Counting the days to Star Wars

While the rest of the world is counting down the days remaining until Christmas, I’m just over here counting down the days to Star Wars: Episode VII.

With 7 days left until the 7th Episode, born from a saga that all began in 1977, let me welcome you to the 7 Days of Star Wars.  Think of it as the 12 Days of Christmas, but…nerdier, I mean, cooler.

On the seventh day of Star Wars, Ripley’s shared with me: Seven Carved Crayolas
(Did you sing it? It works.)

Created by California artist Hoang Tran, these meticulously carved crayons feature seven of the most epic characters ever born on the big screen: Yoda, Chewbacca, R2-D2, C3PO, Darth Vader, an Ewok, and a Storm Trooper.

Each sculpture takes Hoang a few hours, depending on the intricacy of the design, and he uses only melted crayon wax – and the Force – to create these multi-colored figures, adding color meticulously, just one drop at a time.

Stay tuned to see these creatively carved crayons at an Odditorium near you!

The Star Wars saga, now one of the most legendary in cinematic history, originally opened on May 25, 1977, playing in less than 40 theaters nationwide – Believe It or Not! Personally, I find their lack of faith disturbing.
